The Theatre On Wheels: A True Tale Of Grit And Determination!
The Century Theatre, built after the second world war as a travelling theatre, is unique.
Hear the fascinating history and amazing engineering involved in the construction of this incredible venue, and take a look behind the scenes.
Find out why it was built, how the money was raised, the engineering behind the project, what it was like to go on tour, and the theatre today.
The visit takes the form of a slide show, history talk and archive film, showing how it all comes to bits!
It is informal and fun with plenty of opportunity for you to get involved. Enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits and then go back stage to see where all the magic happens. Perhaps give us song or a dance - the stage is yours!
Enjoy one of our huge library of shorts archive film to round off to your unforgettable visit to our theatre.
The total length of a tour varies according to the groups, but usually about 2 hours.
To book your visit, email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your groups visit and requirements. Formal groups or groups of friends are all welcome.
There is no charge for this tour but a donation towards the work of the Century Volunteers is appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you!
